Unsafe, Unregistered Vehicle, No Dl. No Insurance, And Possession Of Meth. What Kind Of Sentance To Expect?

I (61 F) recently had the title of my deceased husband's ,2001 Denali, transferred to me so I could give my stepson (52 M) the truck. I live in Illinois, stepson has Iowa state ID but is mostly transient. Vehicle had a dead battery and one flat tire. Sat unmoved for 3 years.

Agreed to take him to the courthouse the following day to get everything done.

I assumed I would end up paying, but worth it to know it was done and I'm no longer liable for vehicle.

He is late for courthouse time we agreed upon, then the phone rings.

Can I pick him up at the courthouse in my county. Can't wait to hear this one.

30 minutes later, there he stands. No shoes, no shirt. Sheriff gave him a pair of socks, so pavement wouldn't burn his feet if he had to walk. Asked him why he was arrested, answers with:

I drove the truck without a license.

I might have had some meth on me too.

I know he had no ID on him. The vehicle was impounded. I have possession of that again. So I am sure there is a whole lot more, but I know he is charged with

No ID

Unregistered vehicle

No insurance

Possession of meth.

He is on the radar with our PD...population here is only 2000. They knew he would do something stupid. Jr. Had a new battery sitting on the block. Jumper cables hooked up so it started. Couldn't shut the by about 6 inches, but thought that was fine. And dont forget the flat tire.

What kind of sentance is he looking at?

Jail would do him good. Prison I feel, he will get himself murdered.

I just wanted him gone.
