W2 Information Leaked By State Tax Commission
Location: Oklahoma
I am looking for some legal advice (if any) about a breach of sensitive information.
I, as well as a few coworkers, received a letter in the mail stating that there was a "notice of security incident" and it states that the Oklahoma Tax Commission learned of suspicious activity within the OK Taxpayer Access Point and that basically all of our W2 information was "leaked"... So far it was me and three other coworkers who received this, their spouses did not receive this letter so it seems to be linked to the company we work for.
We were not notified by our employer because apparently it was the OTC who had a breach, not the company I work for. I am wondering what my next step should be and if there is grounds for legal action. I checked my credit score and it seems the same, so I am not sure my information has been used, but this seems serious and I have never dealt with anything of this nature.
I appreciate the advice in advance.
