Wa State Cir Laws

Card image cap

Location: Washington state

Been with my partner for 17 years.

Living together for 16.

Unmarried.

No children.

We started a business together 10 years ago, it's an LLC in their name only.

I built and work for the business, designed logo, websites, did advertising, bookings, bookkeeping, customer support, everything, but I'm not hired as an employee.

We share finances, but the bank is also in their name because it's a business account for the LLC.

We have one shared credit card that my name is on.

We bought our first home 4 years ago, I am on the title but not the mortgage loan because I have no recorded income because nothing is in my name.

We are now talking about separation and though we previously agreed I would keep the house and they would keep the business, i'm afraid they may take everything from me because they can. I also don't know if this is a fair deal or if I'm just continuing the theme of screwing myself over. I'm just recently learning about Committed intimate relationship laws in WA. and that i may have a right to half of everything we built together, but does that ultimately mean selling the house and business and we both lose it all? Does anyone know about CIR laws and have advice?
