What Happens If You Turn 18 Halfway Through Legally Changing Your Last Name As A Minor?

Location: Georgia

Im 17 and I turn 18 in exactly a month a 7 days. I totally RESENT my last name so I have wanted to change it for the longest. I also graduate in May but the cut-off to change the name used at graduation at my school is January 1st, so I planned on starting the legal process tomorrow. I know it will not be done by January; however, my school is more willing to change my name for my graduation if I’ve already completed the four week publishing period and have a court date set up, as compared to simply telling them it’s something I ‘plan’ on doing. Like, I need proof I’ve already started and that I’m serious. The issue is I’m turning 18 right when my four week publication period is complete. What does this mean for me? Is the case still valid? Im not sure what to do with this. I was going to go submit my paperwork to the court tomorrow until it dawned on me—I don’t wanna waste my money on filing fees just for it to get cancelled halfway through. Stupid question but can I submit a normal adult form?
