Wife Preventing Me From Having Access To Father's Medical Updates And Records During Hospital Stay

There is no healthcare proxy that was signed or in place when my father had capacity to do so, but his wife has made the recent decision to ban me from being provided updates of his medical condition, including any test results during his stay at a NYC hospital.
This was a sudden change as I was allowed such information and access as recent as a few days ago, including being involved to hear updates from doctors, nurses and social workers. She took the opportunity of me not being around to prevent me any further access to being provided medical updates by his nurses and doctors.
If she is relying solely on the status of being "wife" to prevent me any further access or requests for updates on my father's medical condition, can this be challenged through the hospital system or through a court of law?
In addition, can she go even further to prevent me from having visitation rights during his hospital stay?
