Won A Judgement In Brooklyn Civil Court For $50k. Now I Need To Collect...

Card image cap

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Greetings. I won, in Kings Civil Court, a judgement against an individual for about $50,000. This was a default judgement against a shady individual who may or may not have many assets.

In terms of collecting, one attorney, JD Warner offered his services for $2500 + a 25% contingency on collections. This seems risky for me especially if the guy proves to be as much of an elusive deadbeat as i think he is.

Why is it so difficult to find judgement collection services that work on contingencies in NYC, a huge city where i imagine this service is widely needed?

Can anyone recommend a good way to proceed with this? there are a few websites, like "Accounts Receivable", but they all seem so sketchy.

Even JD Warner, who appears on the top of the list of google searches has like zero google reviews or any real reviews of any kind whatsoever.

Is this a dead end? Any and all advice would be incredibly helpful.

Thank you very much
