Hi,

I recently started questioning a local "non profit" youth sports league due to not seeing where funds were going. Long story short, I went to a board meeting and asked for financials due to rising costs but we were not seeing things upgraded or being applied in areas we would expect them to be. In asking for financials I was given a "budget" and told thats good enough. As a non profit they are required to provide the last 3 years of tax forms, and other financial statements. When I asked for specifics I was given at a board meeting a form 990 that had been signed by a local CPA and was told that was filed. However it was a fraudulent document. Dates were wrong, CPA said he never filled it out or signed it. After that I looked into some tax information and found out they have not been an active non profit since 2021. and have not filed taxes since 2017. When I asked the board about this information they played it off as no big deal. I then again asked for bank statements due to the board being board members for a local tournament team (not part of this youth league) and they refuse to give them to me. Elections were just held and they nominated themselves back in. I along with many other parents feel money is being embezzled from our league to the board members conflict of interests. I reached out to a local detective, and he said there is no cause for an investigation, and I find that hard to believe but could very easily be wrong. Theres more depth to all of this but my main question is should law enforcement be involved? We are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars not being accounted for.
