The Dallas Cowboys have already gotten started in terms of making moves to be active in free agency. They have negotiated a new deal for starting right tackle Terence Steele. He will receive $22 million in guaranteed money on his new deal with a $33 million base value, which can go up to $36 million. This also creates $13 million in cap space for the Cowboys.

The #Cowboys & OT Terence Steele restructured his deal and his new one includes $22M in fully guaranteed money, a base value of $33 — $36M max, per me and @TomPelissero.

Steele had three years left on the five-year, $82.5 million deal he signed in 2023 that was set to pay him $48.5 million over that span, which means he’s taking a pay cut.

Steele was set to earn $48.5M over the next three years from the Cowboys, so it sounds like he took a pay cut to $33M and in return gets $22M guaranteed. He had no real guarantees on this year's salary prior to this.

There was some speculation that he could be a cut candidate with the Cowboys being able to save $14 million if he was a post-June 1st cut. However, he’s safe for the 2026 season at least with this move.

Since inking his previous deal, Steele has played in and started all 51 games for the Cowboys, making him the most reliable piece on the offensive line the last three seasons.
