The Miami Dolphins fell to 1-6 after their Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots. It was a rough game for Miami, who led at halftime and looked like they would be able to hold on for a second-straight victory in a reset season, but the second half featured the mistakes expected from a young team, and New England capitalized. There was hope, but it quickly vanished as a 13-3 halftime lead became a 24-19 loss.

The good news, if you are looking for it, was Miami still covered the 7.5-points they were given, according to the oddsmakers.

Now headed into Week 9, the Dolphins will be looking to change a win against the spread into a straight-up win. They host the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and the line is almost identical to last week’s odds.

FanDuel Sportsbook oddsmakers opened the line for this weekend’s game with the Lions favored by seven. The point total is 50.5, among the top combined score odds on the schedule for this weekend. The Lions are -350 on the moneyline for the straight-up win, while the Dolphins are +275.

Can the Dolphins come away with the victory? Will they settle for covering the spread? Or will the 5-2 Lions easily defeat the league’s youngest roster?
