Drew Brees Weighs In On Vikings Qb Battle: 'a Lot To Prove'

That is the question that hangs over the Minnesota Vikings with less than two months until the NFL regular season kicks off. Eager to avoid another disappointing campaign, the Vikings opted for some competition in the quarterback room, adding Murray this offseason.

The former Michigan man hasn't lived up to expectations, paving the way for the 2019 No. 1 overall pick to potentially win the job in training camp.

Drew Brees, a Super Bowl champion and New Orleans Saints legend, weighed in on the battle.

"I think both of those guys have a lot to prove," Brees said to USA TODAY Sports' Madison Tenenbaum.

Brees noted that McCarthy just hasn't been on the field enough in his short career, while Murray is getting a fresh start. However, the former Cardinals' signal-caller has the added task of endearing himself to a new team, making for an intriguing competition.
