The integration allows operators to incorporate Wattbike’s non-invasive VO2 max assessments into member onboarding, programming and EGYM’s Cardio BioAge platform

EGYM is partnering with indoor cycling brand Wattbike to make VO2 max testing more accessible in commercial gyms, giving operators a practical way to measure one of the strongest indicators of cardiovascular fitness and longevity without requiring specialized lab equipment.

Through the integration, Wattbike’s Healthspan VO2 Max Check Test will connect directly with the EGYM ecosystem, allowing estimated VO2 max results, along with calories burned and virtual distance, to flow into member profiles. VO2 max scores will also feed into EGYM’s Cardio BioAge metric, which translates cardiovascular fitness into an estimate of biological age.

The companies say the partnership will enable operators to incorporate VO2 max testing into onboarding, quarterly reassessments and personalized training programs while giving members an easier way to track improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness over time.

“By integrating their proven VO2 max capabilities into the EGYM ecosystem, we are giving operators another powerful tool to deliver highly personalized experiences and measurable health outcomes,” EGYM vice president of partner relations Tino Tsolakis said.

VO2 max measures the body’s ability to use oxygen during exercise and is widely regarded as one of the strongest indicators of cardiovascular fitness. Research has increasingly linked higher VO2 max levels with improved health outcomes and longevity, but traditional testing has often required expensive equipment and specialized laboratory settings.

Wattbike says its Healthspan VO2 Max Check Test delivers validated VO2 max estimates for the general population without invasive gas-analysis testing, making the assessment easier for health clubs to deploy at scale.

For operators, the integration provides another objective health metric to benchmark member progress beyond workout frequency or weight loss. Members, meanwhile, can monitor improvements over time through the EGYM platform as they work to improve their overall fitness.

The integration is available now for compatible Wattbike products connected to the EGYM Cloud through firmware updates and compatible NFC or RFID hardware.

“We bring over a decade of experience in delivering VO2 max estimate testing in labs and gyms globally, and we are thrilled to combine with EGYM to bring this credibility to the EGYM ecosystem globally,” Wattbike head of commercial Steve Marshall said.
