Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Reportedly Down To Heat And Celtics, Could Include Some Premier Talent Going To Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo could be in his final days — or even hours — as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. With the 2026 NBA Draft starting Tuesday, the Bucks have plenty of motivation to make that trade now so they have additional assets ahead of the draft.

Given Antetokounmpo's stature — he's a 10-time All-Star and two-time MVP — he was going to draw immense interest from around the league. But in the final hours before a trade is expected, two teams have emerged as the most likely to acquire Antetokounmpo: The Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat, according to veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein.

As you might expect, some premier talent would swap teams in a trade for Antetokounmpo. The Heat are reportedly willing to include Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the No. 13 pick, per Stein. That's three of the team's recent first-round picks and a pick just outside the top 10 in the draft.

Of that group, Herro is the most established of the bunch and has averaged at least 20 points per game over the past five seasons. Both Jaquez and Ware showed growth last season, with Jaquez finishing second in Sixth Man of the Year voting and Ware averaging double-digit points in his second season.

Herro, however, is entering the final year of his contract. He'll likely require a big extension to stick around in Milwaukee. Jaquez is also in the final year of his deal. Ware has a club option that could take him through the 2027-28 season.

The Celtics' reported proposal is not as defined, though Jaylen Brown is expected to be its centerpiece. Brown is coming off his finest season in the NBA, averaging a career-high 28.7 points and finishing sixth in MVP balloting. He's under contract through the 2028-29 NBA season, giving the Bucks more future control over Brown, though his salary will be high those two seasons.

Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, has a player option for the 2027-28 NBA season. He's unlikely to opt into that deal, so his new team would need to bring a massive extension to the table to keep Antetokounmpo around for the long term.

With the 2026 NBA Draft right around the corner, a trade is expected soon. Will it be the Heat, who have promised a big addition this offseason? Or the Celtics, who should be an easy championship contender with Jayson Tatum another year removed from his injury?

Or will another team swoop in at the last second to make an offer the Bucks can't refuse? Given Antetokounmpo's ability, that can't be ruled out.

NBA fans should have that answer very soon.
