Patriots Reportedly Re-sign Defensive Tackle Isaiah Iton Ahead Of Training Camp
A familiar face has taken the open spot on the 91-man roster in Foxborough.
The New England Patriots re-signed defensive tackle Isaiah Iton to a one-year deal ahead of training camp, as agent Sean Stellato shared with ESPN’s Mike Reiss on Monday.
Iton, 24, was not tendered by the organization as an exclusive rights free agent in March. The 6-foot-2, 277-pound defensive lineman initially agreed to terms at Gillette Stadium last spring after participating in rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. From there, he totaled three tackles, including one for loss, across 42 defensive snaps in preseason action before clearing waivers and reverting to injured reserve for the rest of 2025.
Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024, Iton spent his rookie campaign on the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans and was briefly retained a on a futures pact. He made stops at Northern Colorado and Hutchinson Community College before going on to appear in 36 games between Ole Miss and Rutgers.
Last week, the Patriots cleared a roster spot by waiving fellow defensive tackle Travis Shaw, who arrived in May as part of the club’s undrafted class.
New England’s coaching staff returned to the facility on Monday. And after Wednesday and Friday’s report dates follow for rookies, veterans and players rehabbing from injuries, the first practice of the summer is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. ET next Saturday.
