Patriots Waive Safety Elliott Davison, Re-sign Running Back Terrell Jennings To Practice Squad
The New England Patriots head into November with an opening on the 53-man roster.
The organization waived safety Elliott Davison on Monday and also announced the re-signing of running back Terrell Jennings to the practice squad.
Davison, 24, had been promoted to the active roster midway through October after twice serving as a standard elevation. The 6-foot, 190-pound safety first arrived on the practice squad in September before being released and re-signed. His stay has brought two tackles and one pass deflection through three appearances spanning 10 snaps on defense and 57 snaps on special teams.
Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2025, Davison spent the entirety of his rookie year on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints and reached a futures contract in January. The UTSA product checked in as the sixth safety on the 53-man roster in Foxborough alongside Kevin Byard III, Craig Woodson, Jaylen Reed, Mike Brown and Brenden Schooler, yet was a healthy scratch last weekend.
Jennings, 25, officially returns to the Patriots on the practice squad after three months as a free agent. The 6-foot, 222-pound rusher had been waived off injured reserve in August with an injury settlement that expired after the initial six weeks of the regular season, as the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed reported. He was among three backs in for workouts in October.
A former rookie minicamp tryout, Jennings first agreed to terms as an undrafted free agent in 2024. The Florida A&M alum went on to spend parts of the two campaigns on the 53-man roster after reaching the league limit in standard elevations from the practice squad. And in 2025, he rushed for his first NFL touchdown before finishing the road to Super Bowl LX on injured reserve. Standing 10 appearances into his career with 77 snaps on offense and 69 snaps on special teams, Jennings has totaled 115 yards from scrimmage across 37 touches.
New England’s practice squad now returns to capacity after the recent promotion of running back Lan Larison to an active depth chart also featuring Rhamondre Stevenson, Corey Kiner and TreVeyon Henderson.
Also on Monday, wide receiver Ryan Miller reverted to the 17-man scout team after facing his previous team as a standard elevation.
Miller, 26, played five offensive snaps during what became a 24-19 win at Hard Rock Stadium. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound target entered Sunday’s AFC East meeting ranked fifth on the Miami Dolphins in receiving yards. That was the case despite being waived from the 53-man roster midway through October and signing to the practice squad in Foxborough. A 77-yard touchdown was reeled in during the initial weeks of the season after arriving as a waiver claim at the end of training camp.
Undrafted out of Furman in 2023, Miller spent three campaigns between the active roster and practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would finish 2025 with the New York Giants and now stands 31 games into his career. A six-game starter, his odometer includes 17 receptions for 254 yards and four touchdowns through 449 downs on offense and 421 downs on special teams.
The Green Bay Packers visit Gillette Stadium next Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
