According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Kansas City will be signing former Miami Dolphins’ cornerback Kader Kohou.

The 27-year-old defensive back initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Dolphins and proving himself to start 13 games in 2022, a playoff season for Miami. He continued as a factor in the Dolphins’ defense over the next two seasons, entering the 2025 season as a starter with 28 passes defended in his career.

Unfortunately, Kohou suffered a knee injury during training camp that sidelined him for the entirety of last season.

Earlier this month, the agents of Kohou told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that Kohou has been deemed fully cleared medically.

During his three seasons with Miami, Kohou was primarily a slot defender. According to Pro Football Focus, Kohou aligned in the slot for 61% of his snaps. He was heavily relied on for coverage, but did occasionally blitz. Over his career, quarterbacks have generated a 99.4 passer rating when targeting Kohou.

???? Kader Kohou stats as a Miami Dolphin:

➖ 4 seasons
➖ 47 games played
➖ 180 combined tackles
➖ 13 TFLs
➖ 5 QB hits
➖ 1.0 sack
➖ 2 forced fumbles
➖ 28 passes defended
➖ 3 interceptions

He will join a Chiefs cornerback room that is currently led by Kristian Fulton and second-year playmaker Nohl Williams. Kohou projects to man the slot in Nickel and Dime packages, leaving Fulton and Williams to focus on defending the boundary.

Once offseason training gets rolling, it will be noteworthy to follow how the Chiefs are strategizing around newcomers Kohou and safety Alohi Gilman as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo transitions into a new era.
