The Jets Got Their First Interception Since 2024!
One of the NFL’s longest, strangest streaks is finally over.
The New York Jets have an interception.
Last season, Aaron Glenn’s defense became the first in league history to go the entire season without an interception. The inability to generate a turnover sparked thousands of film breakdowns, and even found a way into the Los Angeles Chargers’ annual schedule release video.
Through three weeks of the 2026 NFL season, the Jets were still searching for that interception. They looked to have that first INT early in Sunday’s Week 4 contest against the Chicago Bears, but that turnover was taken off the board due to a penalty on the defense.
Finally, early in the second quarter, the Jets broke that brutal streak:

It was none other than veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, stepping in front of this Tyson Bagent pass to give the Jets their first interception in more than 600 passing attempts.
The last time New York’s defense snared an interception? That came at the end of the 2024 NFL season, when the Jets picked off Tyler Huntley twice in a win over the Miami Dolphins. Ashtyn Davis secured both interceptions on that January afternoon for the Jets.
And now, after 20 games, they finally have another interception.
