Kevin Nash Not Interested In Wwe Creative Role
The Kliq’s influence in WWE creative might be growing, but Kevin Nash is fine staying on the sidelines.
It was reported last week that Shawn Michaels could be set to take over for WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard when Prichard retires from that role in 2027. That would make Michaels the right-hand man to Paul “Triple H” Levesque on main roster creative, while fellow Kliq member Sean “X-Pac” Waltman works with wrestlers in the WWE ID program.
Nash, on his Kliq This podcast this week, said he doesn’t think he’d be a good fit for main roster creative. Though he and Levesque are great friends, Nash thinks his personality would irritate Levesque in this kind of business setting.
“For me? No,” Nash responded when Kliq This co-host Sean Oliver asked about a potential main roster creative role. “F***ing, I’m kind of a jack-off. I like to laugh. I think I would irritate Paul. I like to laugh too much. So, I just don’t think they have time for my shenanigans.”
More than that, Nash doesn’t have any interest in working this kind of job at 67 years old.
“I don’t want to work,” he said. “I’m 67 years old. It’s like, f***. I’m the oldest f***er. Paul’s 10 years younger than me, that’s a huge difference.”
An NXT role could work better if Nash were able to do it from home via Zoom. Still, he thinks you need to sit down with talent and get to know them if you want to book them effectively.
“If it were Zoom, I could four-hour Zoom every day. All I’d be doing is turning off the financials and talking wrestling,” Nash said.
“The first thing I’d have to do is, I’d have to completely immerse myself in the product. I’d have to be down there. I mean, I’d have to go down. I’d have to sit down, talk to people. You can’t book people that you don’t have a feel for.”
Kevin Nash reacts to Shawn Michaels potential new WWE role —
Michaels’ current WWE position has him running NXT as Senior Vice President of Talent Development & Creative. If he does depart that role, AJ Styles could end up becoming more hands-on in NXT. Prichard is expected to remain with WWE as a consultant after retiring from the Executive Director position. His current job requires administrative work that Michaels has never done before, so it’s possible Michaels might not take over all of Prichard’s responsibilities even if he does end up being promoted to his spot.
When asked about Michaels’ possible new role, Nash said he doesn’t know anything — but it would only make sense if Michaels does end up getting the job.
“I know nothing,” Nash said. “It would only make sense for Shawn to take the spot. Shawn’s basically been the head of creative for [NXT]. And it’s not even [minor leagues], to me it’s just another brand.”
