1 Dui. 3 States Involved
Location: VA, NC, MI
Hello, This is a super complicated situation and I’ve talked to a few lawyers, but so far no one seems to know what I need to do. I got a dui this April in NC and was convicted in October. At the time of the DUI, I lived in Virgina with a Virginia drivers license. Shortly after the DUI I moved to Michigan. In July I attempted to get a Michigan drivers license since my Virginia license was not suspended and I was not convicted yet. The DMV here said North Carolina had a hold on my license. Okay, fine, but this means I still have my Virginia license. When I was convicted in North Carolina, I received a one year suspension from them and a driving permit. Virginia has not yet suspended my license, but I’m sure they will. When my suspension is up, can I get the hold from North Carolina released and get my license in Michigan? Do I have to do something in person in North Carolina, and/or get my license reinstated in Virginia before getting a Michigan drivers license? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I’m at such a loss at this point.
