17 Y/o Losing Legal Guardian To Cancer. Help?
Location: Western/Central Massachusetts
I have a friend who's a 17 year old girl. She turns 18 in March. We live in Massachusetts. Her grandfather has been her legal guardian for the past 3 years or so. She has been in and out of the system and does NOT want to end up with dcf again. My grandfather offered to be her guardian temporarily if needed so that shouldn't be a problem. He is going on hospice care in a nursing home. All of his belongings and assets are being passed down to her through a will and trust. He has a vehicle that has roughly 16k left in payments. She has a car in his name that she paid for and owns outright. The home is a mobile home in a trailer park that he owns outright. She is fully able to take care of herself and her home but she's a senior in high school and just started her job so she probably doesn't work enough hours to "count" She's got some savings that will help the cost of living. What happens if he dies before she turns 18?
