17 Year Old From Ny Kicked Out Staying With 19 Year Old From Nj

About a week ago on March 6th I was living in New York State with my grandma. Until she kicked me out due to my mental health struggles, which I do manage as well as I can. She is using my mental illness as a weapon and saying that I ran away because I am so mentally ill but I have proof that its the opposite and that she refuses to take me back in. I went to everyone in state that I knew and no one could take me in. I cannot go to my parents because about two years ago I was taken out of their custody and put into my grandmas guardianship because of my parents drug abuse issues. I now, with nowhere to go have taken a bus to my friend who lives in New Jersey who is letting me stay with them in their apartment. My parents want me to come back to New York state but if I did I'd have nowhere to go.

I should also mention a few days ago New Jersey cops came to my friends apartment and they basically picked me up and held me at the station for a couple of hours since I had been reported as a runaway officially. Because no one would be willing to come get me they released me back to my friend and said that because no one is willing to get me that I can stay with the friend so that they know where I am at and that I am safe.

My friend either wants guardianship/custody of me or to emancipate me but with New York laws and my age it seems to be difficult situation especially since it feels like there is little cooperation between anyone. My birthday is on January 27th meaning there are a whole 9 months or so until I am legally an adult. Me and my friend really don't know if our next steps should be contacting CPS ourselves and making a report against my grandma or contact a lawyer and see how they can help and what would happen from there on. What can I legally do to move forward in the situation?
