A Family Member Attacked Me With Caustic Which Resulted In My Repeated Hospitalization. What Are My Rights?

Location: Ohio

I went through several incidents where I got seriously sick after consuming something a family member gave me until finally catching him in the act.

At the time I was confused, scared, and dealing with a lot of pressure to stay silent, so I didn’t report anything right away. After one of the worst episodes, he tried to stop me from getting medical care, and his behavior has escalated since in ways that make both me and my mom feel unsafe when he comes around.

My mom now fully believes what happened and is willing to corroborate the pattern, but she’s terrified that if I come forward he’ll retaliate. He intimated so and has taken to carrying around a weapon around us.

This has gone on for several months- five such occasions. The injuries were nearly disabling and I haven't been able to work since. I'm concerned I'll never be whole again. The mental anguish has been deep.

I’m an adult ... but I honestly don’t know what to expect if I make a report.

I’m just looking for perspective on what usually happens , what to expect, my rights etc

Will I ever get justice?

edit- I will add this person is no longer living with me and I dont feel myself in urgent danger.
