Apartment Building Blocked Off Parking For Indoor Parking Spot That Is Part Of Rent, But Not Giving Me Another Spot While Repairs Being Done
So yesterday afternoon, our apartment complex notified us that half of our garage will be closed off for repairs (office says it is NOT emergency repairs, but they are necessary). So less than 24 hours notice. With my lease agreement, the spot is included with rent. When I talked to the office they said we are given a space, but we aren’t renting it. This is a new to us company, our building was bought by a new company a couple months ago and it’s been pretty much a nightmare since. My question is, do I have any legal recourse for either a) getting a different spot or b)a rent reduction. To all of a sudden have to park outside where it’s not secure (yes I’m aware garages are not considered secured areas as well, but it’s more secured than outside), is petty frustrating to me. Thanks for any advice you may have!
Location: This is in Minnesota FYI so in the next weeks or so it would be very easy to have ice and frost on our windshields in the morning, which if I’m inside I don’t need to worry about. I am out the door for work by 445am and have an hour drive each way, so having to wake up even earlier is not something I’m happy about either.
