Boss Doesn’t Want To Pay For Her Employees To Go Back To Houses That Weren’t Cleaned Properly The First Time. Is This Legal?

Boss’ quote in the email : “Moving forward, if we are called back to do a reclean, cleaning techs will not be paid for their time to return to a job that they have already been paid once to do. Please let me know if you have questions about that.”

This came after I did a move out clean on a house, but I had to go back to use use a razor blade on the floor, on the shower (soap scum on the entire shower) and to rewipe lights etc. Some of these were things I couldn’t even do properly due to lack of supplies, like a step stool, from my boss.

She got really short with me when i asked to be paid for the extra two hours I was there. then sent a long email afterwards that included that line.

is this legal? it doesn’t feel like i should be forced to work without any compensation. especially cuz that house would’ve taken the extra time if i cleaned it right the first time. thoughts?

Location: Missouri

Edit: I don’t get complaints regularly, I’ve had very few in the six months of working there.
