Breakup - House Splitting
My boyfriend (M33) and I (F33) of 10 years are splitting up. He cheated on me I gave him a second chance 6 months later cheating again. We have a 4 year old toddler together. We bought a house 4 years ago for 845k, his down payment was 150k and I paid 30k. We still owe 645k on it & the market has gone down substantially since. A couple similar properties sold near us sold for 620-670k. I’ve offered to sign over my name from the house but he doesn’t want to do that because the bank won’t let him refinance on his own. I want to sell & take in the obvious debt left over which would probably be anywhere from 40-50k depending on what it sells for split in half and we just pay it down as we go. He wants to rent it and we split the difference our mortgage is about $3200 a month, and property tax 450$ a month so we’d probably end up spending anywhere from $900-$1200 a month based on properties rented similar near us. I cannot afford to pay $600 a month plus be renting a place plus my car payments ($609) insurance ($210), that payments are just too much I’ll drown. I’m just trying to figure out my options legally here. I’m planning to talk to a lawyer ASAP, but I have a lot of anxiety about this situation right now. Any help is much appreciated ????
