Ex-wife Is Scheduling A Referral Appointment For A Surgery On Our Son. Parenting Plan Has Us Both At 50 Percent Decision Making For Everything.
Location: Washington State
As said in the title. We paid a lot of money for the initial parenting plan that eventually was amended after mediation.
Says plain as day I have half say in his medial, education, and have week on week off.
If she takes him I have a few questions.
The fifty percent goes towards co-pays, daycare, and all other expenses.
- Do I have to pay the co-pay to a appointment I disagree with.
- If he is taken to this appointment what can I file in court, if anything?
Backstory: Difficult divorce and a lot of drama. Ex and I are not on good terms. We hardly speak and when we do we do it through a court ordered mandated app. Son is 6 and been going to speech therapy for over a year. He has made really good progress.
His main therapist recommended we start thinking about a tongue tie surgery to help our son with his speech. I was neither for nor against it. I did my research. The procedure seems simple and not too risky. Here is why I do not want to get it done.
On one of my weeks I had to reschedule his speech appointment and he went to a therapist he first did a couple sessions with when my son first started his little journey. After his session I go into the office the O.G therapist was blown away at the progress my son had made. He said my son seemed to be able to hit most the spots that required him to make his sounds when directed to. I asked him about the surgery and he was pretty against it. He said with my son's progress he thinks the surgery is not needed.
Few more weeks pass by and same situation. A separate therapist that never worked with him complemented my son and said he would be fine with practice.
Not kidding this last Monday we had an appt (on vacation the week before) another therapist that had no prior interaction with my son told me she didn't even notice him needing any help in that area.
I communicate this to her and she says "I will be going forward with the appointment referral". Look I know its just a referral appointment but this woman has put me through things that I still am working on and this is a case where I feel like my legal parental rights are being ignored and disrespected.
I paid a lot of money to get the paperwork the way that it is. What can I do?
Ideally I'm honestly at a point I just want to file something in court and not respond to her. My day is generally way better when I have no interaction with her.
Thanks.
Edit: To clarify I am not going to a separate practice and getting their opinion. The opinions are from separate providers at the same speech therapist building (is that what its called?idk). The therapists have him on a developmental plan. He works the same program week to week.
