Felon Dad Wants His Guns Back
Location: Pennsylvania
My dad is a nonviolent white collar crime felon. Served his time and got out over 20 years ago. No lingering charges/agreements, no additional charges.
Of course when he went away he had to get rid of his guns (hunting and antique). Now because Trump said nonviolent felons can have guns, and I guess there was a Supreme Court case recently that ruled in favor of a non violent felons, my dad thinks he can legally have his guns back.
I can’t find anything saying federal laws and more importantly state laws have been overturned. He is convinced that it’s now legal, even going as far as purchasing a gun case. He even has a retired lawyer friend (not criminal) who is telling him go ahead and do it.
Can anyone tell me if it is still illegal for felons to have guns in Pennsylvania or at least point me in the direction of how I can find out? Do I call non emergency police? Also if you can tell me it’s illegal, can you provide sources? My dad is hardheaded and as he is not believing me now, I know he won’t believe me unless I have a source. I’d like my dad to not go back to prison over something so stupid.
