Firearm Inheritance
Location: Florida
My dad lived in FL and remarried in 2025. He was married to the woman for 6 months and passed away unexpectedly from advanced COPD. He did not have a will. Per FL laws, she gets 2 vehicles and half the estate. My sister and I (his only children) get the other half. Days before he passed, he gave a list to his stepdaughter of where he wanted all of his guns to go. My sister and I want to honor that list and distribute as requested (some are to go to his best friends who is a police officer), but the wife is demanding half the value of the collection. She is a convicted felon who is not allowed to own guns. Is she entitled to the value of the guns in any capacity? We are only able to google values because we don't intend to sell any of them. If it matters, she had me kicked out of the hospital when I went to see him on his death bed and she did not notify any of his family when he passed. She's a horrid person. Not relevant to my question but it pleases me to see it in writing.
