Franchise Is Trying To Avoid Paying Me Overtime.
Location: Tennessee.
So the franchise I work for is an LLC, there are two owners but the company is under FAMILY LLC. I’ve been getting overtime at my store (owned by A) and I was asked to work on my off days at another store to help them get ready for their RGR (owned by B). The GM of B store used to be my manager at A store, I really like and respect her so I agreed to help out her store.
Mid-shift GM B got a text from a higher up (I cannot remember his job title, but he is essentially below the owners) telling her to clock me in at B store so I would be unable to receive overtime for the hours I’ve worked. GM B was extremely mad on my behalf and told me she won’t allow me to work another day at her store so she doesn’t continue to screw me over. Another manager chimed in saying he doesn’t believe it’s legal since both companies are under FAMILY LLC but he wasn’t positive.
I want to know if it what happened was legal. The two stores ARE owned by 2 different people but it’s under FAMILY LLC.
