Home Ac Unit Legal Advice
Location: Florida, Pasco county
I purchased a new air handler and condenser for my home on August 2, 2024 (maybe a day or two off) under the assumption that my old units were the cause of my A/C not working in my home properly. The unit got installed around the 7th due to weather complications and weekend days. The unit was not functioning properly at the start, where I had to call the company to come out to ‘repair’ it over 10 times over the course of the next three months. Every time they ‘fixed’ it, it would somewhat work how it was supposed to, though it would still be over 3 to 4 degrees where we had it set to. Fast forward to mid 2025, and the same issues kept resurfacing, so I had them come out to do repairs again, but this time I also purchased a window A/C unit to help keep the house cool too. It would occasionally stop blowing, where I have to go outside and drain the pipe with a shop vac (common maintenance, I know, but it was frequent). And now yesterday, it stopped working yet again, and I am at my wits end. I did some research and found that I may be protected by the magnuson-moss act, though I would like some legal advice on this issue further, and if I am indeed protected by any sort of laws. I just want it either replaced or a refund for the system, as I financed it and am paying for a new A/C unit that does not even work properly.
Side not: At work currently so I don’t have immediate access to paperwork/documentation other than texts and emails.
