I Have Reason To Believe My Ex Has My Personal Documents. Location: Louisiana

Location: Sulphur, Louisiana and Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Long story short there was a car wreck in Sulphur (boyfriend and I reside in Baton Rouge) in October, the documents were in the car, myself and the driver (my boyfriend) both remember taking the documents out of the car. After the wreck we went to my now ex’s house for a couple of nights while we got our way home figured out. I suspect that the documents stayed at her house after we left because no one has found them since. She has previously kept someone’s social security card. She has had me blocked for a couple of months so I cannot contact her directly anymore.

I would like to contact police officers to escort me to her house and look for the documents (she has previously said she does not have them). I don’t necessarily believe that she harbors ill intent, but the issue with this is that she has her apartment legally designated as some kind of a laboratory area because she is using a legal loophole to grow shrooms (for “research” purposes). I don’t care about that, but according to her it means that the police cannot search her house.

My questions are these: Is having police look for the documents allowed? Is what I’m wanting to do possible? And, lastly, is this ‘legal loophole’ an actual thing?
