Landlord Hired A Worker But Did Not Notify Me And My Dog Bit Him In My Backyard
live in a rental property in Los Angeles. After discovering a broken sprinkler, I asked my landlord to arrange for someone to repair it. They did not tell me what time or what day this person was coming. The following evening, around 8 pm, it was pitch black outside when I let my dogs into the backyard to go pee.
Shortly afterward, I heard someone yelling. I immediately retrieved my dogs and brought them inside. I then realized my landlord had sent a worker to repair the sprinkler without notifying me that anyone would be coming or entering the backyard. I had no idea anyone was on the property when I let my dogs outside. Had I been notified, I would have kept them secured inside while the worker was there. I have a giant sign on the gate that leads into the backyard that says dogs in or dogs out when I change it. At that time it said dogs are outside in English and Spanish so I’m not sure why someone would come in the gate if they saw that the sign said dogs are in the backyard. Any advice for handling this situation?
