Landlord Refuses To Remove Unwanted Furniture

(Head's up, I'll likely cross-post this to multiple subreddits.)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA

I just moved into a new apartment within the Baltimore, MD, city limits. The ad for the apartment listed both partially furnished and unfurnished as options for the unit. During the initial video tour, the landlord asked which furniture I wanted removed. I asked if it was possible to decide after move-in, since it was difficult to fully see and understand the furniture over video call, and they said yes.

Now that I've moved in, the landlord refuses to remove any of the larger furniture.

At first the landlord was inconsistent and contradictory about why the furniture could not be removed, insisting that I rented the apartment as partially furnished. After much back and forth, the landlord admitted that moving and storage costs are the primary barrier.

I've carefully re-read the lease agreement and confirmed that it does not specify the apartment to be furnished or partially furnished or include anything like an inventory list of included furniture. If I had known these items couldn't be removed at all, I wouldn't have signed the lease.

What are my options here? Would I be in my rights to dispose of the unwanted furniture myself? Some of this stuff is in the way of unpacking my bedroom and office, which will negatively affect my quality of life when my new job starts.
