Md Name Change

Card image cap

Location: MD (more specifically Anne Arundel County)

Hi, not sure if i’m doing this right, but I recently turned 18 in may, and i’m a transgender man. I want to change my name legally, so i don’t have to hear my current deadname anymore. i’ve been going by it since 2022, and i’ve been (outwardly/socially) trans since 2022. I’ve tried to watch videos that the website gave me (i think it was the md courts) and about gender identity/name change. I’m wondering how I should go about it because I would like to change my gender identity legally (not sure if my gender marking will change since we are under the new administration but MD is a blue state so i dunno) and my legal name. I don’t mind about costs because i can save up for it, but if i wanted to change both my first and middle name, how do i go about it? Do i just go into my circuit court and ask about it? i think that’s what i’m wondering because the whole process is confusing and i saw on the website that if i took it to court, someone can object it (my parents don’t want me to change it) and im nervous they’ll find out and object and i can’t change it. not sure if im overthinking stuff, but if there is any advice to how these processes go, i would appreciate it.
