My Job Moved My Anniversary Date And Now I Won’t Get My Raise For Another 6 Months
Location: Oregon. I am a nurse at a hospital and I transitioned from a bedside nurse to a RN care manager role on may 31st of this year in the same hospital.
I have worked for this hospital since 2020, and I always get my annual cost of living increases in October as that is my anniversary date. The HR department at my hospital is saying that my anniversary date is now May 16th and I will not get my annual cost of living increases this month but will have to wait until next May.
I went from my original role to this one without any break in employment. I actually worked a Saturday night shift into Sunday and then started my new role the next day on Monday. My health insurance and other benefits stayed the same, but I did get a slight decrease in my pay switching roles. My “seniority” date is still October 2020 on the HR page.
Is there anything I can do to fight this? I will be missing out on over $1500 of wages if I have to wait until May. This was not disclosed to me when I took the new role and I probably would have looked for roles outside of the hospital if I had know it was going to mess with my raises like this.
