Possible Animal Abuse Coverup?
Location: Virginia, USA
I’m not sure what to do or even where to get advice. I work at a doggy daycare/boarding facility.
Coworker 1: went to management against coworker 2 for allegedly hurting a dog and generally being rough with the dogs. Brought this to HR in a meeting. Coworker 1 said meeting went poorly. The next day, HR and district manager meet with all of our building managers. It ends with coworker 1 leaving early - he says he is suspended pending investigation.
Important to note: Coworker 2 is dating our GM. Manager 3 is good friends outside of work with Coworker 2. Manager 2 is good friends with manager 3 outside of work. Coworker 2 is known for being “heavy handed” with the dogs
What is loosely corroborated:
Coworker 2 was fired. GM threatened to quit. Coworker 2 was unfired. Then coworker 1 was suspended.
Attempts to contact anyone above our District Manager and HR is met with silence.
Is there legally anything here? Would you trust our management?
