Shared Driveway Advice
Location: Pennsylvania
My mom has lived in her home with our family for 31 years. About 8 years ago, our neighbor bought land from a business that closed and built his home there. He has been getting increasingly angrier over us using the driveway the way we always have. In our deed it states the use of the shared driveway is “together” and I cant figure out what that means. None of the things i’ve found about easements look like or use the same verbiage as what’s in our deed.
In the last three years he has built two large garages that don’t block access to the driveway, but have made it significantly slimmer and today he yelled at my mom about him not being able to pull his truck behind his garage because of our (two) cars and told her to park in our yard so he doesn’t have to use what used to be an alleyway but he has completely blocked off now. I tried looking up information on if he can force us to park in the yard since ,according to him, he owns all of the land up to about an inch away from our home but im not getting the information i need. We have payed for our part of the driveway to be paved and we make sure it is clear of snow and park as far over as possible without being in our yard.
I am just wondering we can legally continue to park the way we always have or if he can force us to park in our grass, and if anyone can give me and explanation on what “together” means in the deed.
thank you in advance :)
