The Dmv/tax Collectors Missed A Salvaged Title Twice. I Find Out When Getting The Title To Sell The Car..

Location: Florida

Just found out my cars title is salvaged and was missed by the DMV. TWICE.

So 2 years ago I purchased a car by a private seller (in Florida) , registered it with absolutely no issues. Today I went to the tax collectors office to get a printed title because I had a buyer for the car, come to find out the title on the car was completely salvaged and im finding out the car never should have EVER been registered, plated or even on the roads because it isn’t rebuilt. Massive fuck up happened twice on this. And salvages were out of two states… Tennessee and some other for two completely different things.

I call the buyer let them know, and they for obvious reasons don’t want the car.

Worker tells me the car needs to be inspected and have other things done to get the title at a rebuilt status.

Currently having a debate with husband because I don’t want to sell it to anyone and assume any sort of liability. He seems to think it’s an easy fix and they just have to do a quick inspection for this interested buyer to get the title…. My experience with LE and mfers with cars is they’ll drive the cars however and not do what they need to do to get things properly done and I don’t want the liability…. Despite having a bill of sale and the salvage title, I worry about the car being in my name until the title can be transferred AFTER being rebuilt. I want to just scrap it and be done with it, but my husband thinks we can still sell it and this person won’t have a difficult time registering this car.
