Theft?
Location: Kentucky. I have a friend of 20 years who stays over often. I live with my partner and an infant child. We have noticed personal belongings going missing such as clothing items & expensive skin care products, as well as meticulous items, enough to make one suffer mentally like “why is this one item missing?” or “why is this $20 missing when I KNOW I left it there?” I’m a clean freak and have cleaned my home top to bottom, never finding what I thought may have just been misplaced. I have only one other friend and family member who visit often but I still suspect it is this person because we only notice after they visit. This person will also “take a phone call” and go up to our bedroom so we have since been locking our upstairs rooms. I put mini cameras in my home to finally find out who is actually stealing from us. If I happen to catch this person in the act what legal authority do I have in the moment? We are struggling financially and the person I think is stealing from us knows this. I’m a dermatologist and I make good money but have been on maternity leave so I’m at my most vulnerable which they also know. I just feel very betrayed and overwhelmed.
