Tiktok Account Listed The House I Own As Being Available To Rent?
Location: PHL
Basically there's a TikTok account that is showing several "listings" in Philadelphia of unrealistically low priced rentals. And one of them listed is the address of the house I own, and live in, with a video tour of a home that is very much not mine. This week someone came to my home and after continually knocking was greeted by my neighbor who explained that the house was not for rent. Apparently the person was extremely upset and left angry, trying to contact someone, presumably the owner of the tiktok account. I was able to track the post down and there's several listings there, with the addresses plastered on the videos of very similar looking house tours that are almost certainly not at the actual addresses. I filed a police report but they didn't seem to know what to do besides listen. I understand that this is probably a widespread issue of people collecting as much money as they can from renters in search of cheap homes. I've found plenty of first hand accounts of people being swindled, but none from people like myself, who have strangers coming to their home expecting to be allowed to let in, or maybe live there? Any advice on how to handle this?
