Would It Be Worth Consulting A Lawyer About My Company Not Giving Me Time To Pump At Work?
Location: Florida
I work in an urgent care that sees 60+ patients/day and I recently returned from maternity leave.
Since returning, my employer hasn't provided me with time to pump which I know is required by law. They've provided a space, but they just expect me to pump in between patients. However, these patients are allowed to make appointments to be seen, and they haven't blocked off the schedule and patients are often making appointments during my pumping time. My work just expects me to make the patients wait, but then I'm placed in a position of having to choose between pumping in patient rooms, or dealing with understandably angry patients that had to wait an additional 30 minutes (or more as the wait would accumulate throughout the day without any schedule breaks). My performance reviews are also based in part on patient wait times and patient reviews
Would it even be worth pursuing? Because they don't technically prevent me from pumping and they've told me to have patients wait, but they don't exactly set aside time for me to pump either.
I also have a non-compete contract that makes it difficult to find a job elsewhere without moving so I don't want to make things awkward with my employer and then still be stuck working there.
